World Wide Knit In Public Day

This past Saturday was World Wide Knit In Public day. Kniterary celebrated by inviting all customers (old and new) to come and knit outside the shop for the day.

Among the many people who came to celebrate the day at Kniterary were Ruth and Lindsay from Georgetown. They will apparently be joining another WWKIP event this coming Saturday in the Guelph area. They are sure to enjoy their company as much as we did. It is always good to make new knitting friends!

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't in agreement with all the people who were knitting in public, and forced us all inside. We didn't let the weather get us down and moved the fun upstairs.

It wasn't long before there was much more than just knitting going on.

People were spinning and stitching also.

Over-all the event and experience left all feeling accomplished with the progress on their knitting, stitching, spinning, etc and enriched by our time communing with fellow fiber lovers!

The raffle was won by Elizabeth R who came into the shop with 9 members of the guild from Georgina. They spent an hour or more discovering all the nooks and crannies of The Little Green House! Thanks for the visit ladies!

We hope to see them and you all in the shop soon!

December Newsletter

It is hard to believe that it is December already!!!
This weekend we are hosting a Christmas Prep weekend. There will be at
least 10% off everything all weekend and door prizes.

On Saturday Dec.6th you can come in and have a look at what is in stock
and make your wish list to give to family and friends. While you are in
you can pick up a mini stocking kit for $4.99 and relax with some cider
and treats while you get going on it. The kit has enough yarn to make 3
mini stockings that are great for tree ornaments or gift adornment. It
is also a great time to pick up some of the chunkier yarns for quick
last minute scarves and hats for gifts.

On Sunday Dec. 7th you can send in your family and friends with your
wish list and Vickie and I will help them find what you want. Also
available are gift certificates in any denomination. While your loved
ones are shopping for you why not join Miranda at 3 Steps Up Coffee
House at 840 Brock St. N. to knit and have a coffee. It is a quaint
little shop and Miranda is hosting a Sit N Knit there every Sunday Morning.

New yarn: Manos del Uruguay wool and silk wool. Beautiful fair trade
yarn from Uruguay that is perfect for a luxurious scarf or sweater.

Accessories: Louise Sparrow project bags are the perfect way to carry
your WIPs. Smaller Christmasy bags are $9.99 and would make perfect
reusable wrapping. Larger bags are $14.99.
There is currently a large selection of Nature's Wonders handmade
wooden sweater, shawl pins and buttons are also in and would make a
perfect adornment to go with any shawl or to use on a sweater. (Could
make a lovely Stocking Stuffer!)
There are a few of Debra's Garden lovely aluminum needle gauges still in
so make sure to pick one up soon.

Kniterary and Hedgehog Stitchery now have our own shopping bag for
sale! The cost is $9.99. You will get 10% all items purchased at the
same time as the bag purchase.

I would like to let everybody know that my Brainwave piece has been
accepted with an Honorable Mention into the Station Gallery
Members Show that starts on
December 6th. Make sure to make it down to the Station Gallery to check
it out as well as the wealth of creativity that exists in our area. I
will be rushing out of our store celebration to be a part of the
presentations at 1PM on Saturday but I will be rushing right back right
afterwards!

Hope to see you this weekend!!

October Already!

Over the summer Michelle knit a wonderful sweater out of Mission Falls 1824 cotton in one of the newer colours. It turned out beautiful! It is on display in the shop for this month. come in and be inspired! Thanks to Michelle for sharing this project with Kniterary! Michelle also has a beautiful shawl on display. Michelle does lace so well! If you are interested in a lace class with Michelle in the new year let me know and I will get her in!

In progress is my wave piece for the Whitby Station Gallery submission.

I have used a combination of yarns and short rows to bring the wave into being. Among the yarns are; Noro Silk Garden and Silk Mountain, Debbie Bliss Astrakan, Naturally Tussock, Elsbeth Lavold Hempathy and a worsted wool that I had in my stash.

You can come in and see its progression since it is being worked on in our classroom.

Classes coming up this month are my Market bag, Mosaic Knitting, Building on Basics and Crochet. See the classes section at www.kniterary.com.

See you in the shop soon!
